Dr. Andrea Antonelli

Testa Opticians’ is proud to collaborate with Dr. Andrea Antonelli, an optometrist who has taken over the practice of Dr. Norbert Schachter, who is now retired. Dr. Antonelli's presence ensures continuity of care while introducing her own expertise and bilingual capabilities, as she is fluent in Spanish.

 

The practice, referred to as Montclair Family Eyecare, welcomes patients of all ages and offers comprehensive eye care. Dr. Antonelli specializes in areas such as ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and pediatric vision care, and works closely with ophthalmologists on surgical cases. Her dedication to quality care aligns seamlessly with Testa Opticians' commitment to excellence and personalized service.

Dr. Antonelli's membership in prestigious organizations like the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, and The New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians reflects her commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in optometry. EYE EXAMS

Norbert Schachter, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing general ophthalmology in Montclair since 1976. Dr. Schachter received his bachelor's degree from Columbia College, his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College.

Dr Schachter served three years in the US Army in Germany as a staff officer in the 3rd Armored Division Artillery while practicing general medicine and commanding two dispensaries. His ophthalmic training included a retinal fellowship, and research in the management of acute glaucoma and herpetic eye disease. He co-authored articles on these subjects in the medical literature.

Dr Schachter had offices in Queens and Manhattan for five years. After arriving in Montclair he was instrumental in acquiring the first medical laser for the community, with which he performed the first laser surgeries in the region. He has been elected to several terms as Department Chairman at Mountainside Hospital.

Dr Schachter offers the old style of medical care, combining years of experience and judgment with the latest technology. He provides comprehensive ophthalmic services, from prescribing of glasses and fitting for contact lenses, to managing complex medical conditions. He accepts the entire spectrum of patients from pediatric to geriatric, and happily welcomes new patients of every sort.
